The Bungalows - The Restaurant - Facilities & Services - Things to do - Location Map ABOUT THE SANTAI HOTEL
We describe Santai Hotel as a boutique hotel that caters for the traveller who wants to get away from it all and stay in 'local' high quality resort accommodation with the comforts of home. The detached bungalows and the rooms are built in the Sulawesi style with thatched roofs and local timbers. We have where possible used local natural materials to create a Balinese ambience.
For those quiet times you can relax in the gardens under the shade of the pagoda and read a book from our library or just watch the ocean gently lapping the shore.
The three Ocean View bungalows are slightly larger than the Garden view bungalows. Otherwise all have the same floor plan and facilities including mini bars. Each bungalow has a large front deck with comfortable lounge sofas and chairs, just right for having breakfast on or taking an afternoon snooze. There is sleeping accommodation for four people, with either a large double or queen size four poster bed on the ground floor and a double or twin beds in the open plan mezzanine loft style room upstairs. The 'open air' style bathrooms give you exotic feeling while providing all the needed amenities including hairdryer. All the bungalows have individually controlled air-conditioning. The individual rooms are located in two buildings behind the bungalows. They follow the same style than bungalows and are spacious enough for two to three persons.
Try some of the local dishes ranging from grilled or B.B.Q freshly caught fish cooked with Balinese spices and sauces (barracuda is a favourite) to Gado Gado, a wonderful warm vegetarian salad with lashings of peanut sauce. We also offer a variety of imported food for those travelers who long for something familiar. We stock imported wine and spirits as well as local wines (very drinkable) and beer. But don't forget to try our barman's special cocktail creations. Open from 7:30 am until 10:30 pm Daily All our food and drinks are prepared with treated water. For early risers a complimentary tray of tea and coffee is served on your deck each morning. The sunrise is wonderful, and you can watch the local fisherman preparing to set sail in their unique colorful wooden sailing-boats from the beach in front of the hotel. After the fisherman have unloaded their daily catch why not arrange to go and try your hand at a little fishing yourself, or just take a leisurely scenic sail along the coast. All drinks from the in-room bar fridge are charged at restaurant prices. Laundry service is available for a nominal charge, and will be returned on the following day. A small stock of toiletries, film and batteries are available for purchase should you run out of anything. Or, in case of emergency our staff is always willing to try to get whatever it is you might need from the nearest town. Santai shop is open beside the restaurant and there you can buy local Balinese handicraft and souveniers. Directly in the front of Santai hotel there is beautiful coral reef which is one of the best in the area for snorkeling and observing underwater world. You can see big variety of fish and beautiful corals and occasionally even dolphins can be spotted from the beach. Snorkeling equipment is available for hire at reception. There is a PADI certified dive shop www.ecodivebali.com close by should you wish to book for a days diving. Our spa service with highly qualified therapists provide facials, Balinese massage, reflexology, manicures, pedicures and a variety of other services at prices that will surprise you. Most of the major attractions on the Island are accessible on a day trip, but more often than not we find that once visitors arrive in Amed they don't want to leave its peace and tranquility. No tourist shops, No beach sellers! Mystic Hindu temples abound, from large and ornate, to the simpler village style and they can be visited at any time. Although it is best to make the most of it and go when there are ceremonies going on. The Balinese are a very friendly and love to invite foreigners along to their special occasions. The local reef and dive sites are among the very best on the island with the unique pygmy seahorses and many other indigenous sea life and they offer a variety of choices from diving down to a wrecked ship about 20 minute's drive away to walking out 10-metres from the beach in front of the hotel to swim and snorkel with a multitude of colorful tropical fish.
The 'Aga' village is the oldest and only one of its kind in Bali and is 60 minutes drive from the hotel. Visitors can see the unique lifestyle of the villagers who now make their living from producing and selling magnificent double woven Ikat and basketwork. Self drive cars and motorbikes are readily available for hire in Bali or if you prefer the stress free way, we can arrange for you to have a reliable car and driver at very competitive rates. Santai Hotel has a medical kit available to guests for headaches, small cuts and bruises etc. We recommend that you talk to your travel agent or Doctor about preventative measures that you might want to take when visiting any Asian country. We hope you don't need one but there is an English speaking Doctor in the area. In typical Balinese fashion they are friendly and helpful. In fact quite a few people have commented on how the staff offers the right blend of both without being intrusive. Click here to view our rates
